020126 Sausage Company Workers Stage Strike

January 19, 2002

More than a dozen workers at the Dearborn Sausage Co. went on strike Tuesday morning. The workers are represented by the United Food Commercial Workers Local 876, and told Local 4 that they are unhappy about a contract that they are being offered.

Workers claim that the company will not offer overtime or holiday pay and that their health insurance is too expensive.

A company representative said that production continued despite the walkout, and that it is willing to negotiate with workers. The company said that it wanted to resolve the dispute.
