011021 Sara Lee To Buy Meat Snacks Maker FHS Inc.October 16, 2001Chicago - Food and consumer products maker Sara Lee Corp. said it will buy No. 4 U.S. meat snacks maker FHS Inc., adding to a category Sara Lee said is increasing at a “double-digit” rate annually. Chicago-based Sara Lee, which has been reconfiguring its portfolio to focus on its food, intimates and household products categories, did not disclose terms of the agreement. Privately held FHS, headquartered in Chandler, Minnesota, had more than $50 million in 2000 sales. Under the transaction, Sara Lee will acquire FHS's beef jerky company, Trail's Best Snacks Inc., and its frozen meat products maker, Huisken Meats Inc.
