980658 Quizno's Offers New Health Subs Including Chicken & Bacon

June 24, 1998

Denver, CO - QUIZNO'S Classic Subs, a fast-growing national restaurant chain, is proving you don't have to sacrifice taste to eat healthy with its new Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple Sub. It has less than 5 grams of fat and only 370 calories, but still offers customers a full-flavor sandwich that combines the tangy taste of teriyaki with the sweet taste of pineapple. The sandwich is available for a limited time at more than 325 QUIZNO'S Classic Subs restaurants throughout the US and in British Columbia, Canada.

“Other restaurants offer sandwiches that claim to be low in fat, but are lacking in flavor because they must be made without cheese or dressing to qualify,” said Sue Hoover, Senior Vice President of Marketing for The Quizno's Corporation “At QUIZNO'S, we have several sandwiches on our everyday menu that taste great, require no modification and are under 10 grams of fat.”

With so many Americans eating on the run, unfortunately fast food often means choosing between good taste and healthy fare. QUIZNO'S prides itself on quick service - ticket times under four minutes - but its proprietary recipes, high quality ingredients and oven baked sandwiches make it clear that QUIZNO'S number one priority is serving delicious food.

“We have always maintained high standards when selecting our ingredients, such as the meats and cheeses used on our sandwiches. This gives our products an edge over our competitors not only in taste, but as an added benefit to customers, high quality ingredients often are lower in fat as well,” said Hoover. “The other factor that distinguishes QUIZNO'S is that we oven bake all our subs to lightly toast the bread, melt the cheese and bring out the full flavor profile of our meats.”

For customers who want a heartier sandwich, QUIZNO'S is also currently serving a new Mesquite Chicken with Bacon Sub - made with mesquite-flavored, all-white meat chicken strips, cheddar cheese, bacon, and ranch dressing. Both new sandwiches are part of QUIZNO'S summer advertising campaign, “Tender Chicken. Tough Choice. Why not try 'em both?”

QUIZNO'S has grown from 18 units in 1991 to nearly 400 restaurants, including some 50 Bain's Delis, in 35 states, Puerto Rico and Canada today. The Quizno's Corporation, which franchises and owns and operates QUIZNO'S Classic Subs, acquired the Bain's chain in late 1997.
