Chicago - Conagra Inc.'s Monfort Beef and Lamb Co. said it would reduce hours at its four beef slaughtering plants next week due to "poor economic conditions in the industry."
The plants are in Grand Island, Nebraska; Garden City, Kansas; Cactus, Texas; and Greeley Colorado.
Monfort did not specify the extent of the cutbacks in hours at each plant or provide their slaughter capacity.
