980324 PurTest Detects Deadly Bacteria Affecting Poultry and Other Livestock

March 10, 1998

Matthews, NC - Vital Living Products, Inc. dba American Water Service, producers of PurTest(TM) has confirmed industry reports that its EPA based water test can detect harmful bacteria contamination that exists in many water supplies serving poultry houses and other livestock feeding operations. Don Podrebarac, President and CEO of the company was quoted in saying, "A letter from an EPA registered lab advised us that our PurTest(TM) Bacteria, Nitrate, Nitrite water testing kit is an excellent indicator of possible campylobacter contamination. In addition, the lab highlighted that the Nitrate/Nitrite tests included in the kit provide instantaneous detection of these problems." Podrebarac continued saying, "Our PurTest(TM) Bacteria, Nitrate, Nitrite test is so reliable in detecting coliform bacteria that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has ordered and used PurTest(TM) in the field. Since introducing PurTest(TM) to the poultry industry in January '98, our phones have been ringing with orders, inquiries and requests for distributor agreements."

The presence of coliform campylobacter and other potentially harmful bacteria can have a negative impact on grower's feed conversion ratio, general bird health and increased mortality in some cases. Most successful growers check the water quality in each poultry house at the beginning of a new flock. PurTest(TM) provides an affordable, easy and accurate way to test in the field without the expense and hassle of a lab.

American Water Service consultant, Bill Agle, was quoted saying, "A Tyson contract grower contacted our corporate offices this past year complaining of an unsatisfactory feed conversion ratio. PurTest(TM) detected a massive bacteria contaminant in the water supply that was being spread throughout the flock. A simple nonchemical filtration and UV disinfection system was used to solve the problem producing an immediate increase in the grower's feed conversion ratio and income. Many farm supply companies are already carrying the PurTest(TM) product line, with more adding PurTest(TM) this spring."
