Reported in The San Francisco Chronicle, Dr. Stanley Prusiner, the University of California Neurologist who was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work with Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), feels that U.S. Beef is safe. In fact, on the day he received his Nobel he treated himself to an "excellent steak, medium rare" and ate it without any anxiety. According to Dr. Prusiner, because cattle in America are raised and fed much different than in Britain, there is no risk of so-called 'mad cow disease' here.
