970840 Boston Market Confirms It Has No Recalled Beef

August 14, 1997

Boston Market confirmed that it has none of the Hudson Foods recalled beef in any of its stores.

Boston Market stores don't use frozen beef patties in any of their products. Additionally, any ground beef that was received from Hudson during the time in question was tested and no evidence was found to suggest harmful levels of E. coli bacteria. Further, any ground beef received from Hudson during the time in question has been out of Boston Market's supply chain and stores for several weeks.

The company said that it did receive a small amount of ground beef from the same Hudson Foods production plant, produced on the same day as the frozen beef patties, but on a separate production line. As part of Boston Market's normal food safety procedures, that ground beef was tested at the time of production and before shipment to Boston Market.

Further, ground beef served in meatloaf at Boston Market stores is cooked to an internal temperature well above the 155-degree standard considered safe by government officials.
