June 11, 2005

Rutland, VT - Cuban agriculture officials are due in Vermont this weekend to select more than 100 head of cattle for export to their island nation.

The three Cuban officials are scheduled to arrive in Brattleboro on Saturday as part of a five-state swing to purchase 500 head of cattle for shipment back to Cuba.

The officials include a veterinarian, a cattle selector and the business manager for the Cuban import agency.

They will spend four days next week inspecting and selecting more than 100 Holsteins and Jerseys from ten to 15 farms.

The deal to sell Vermont cows to Cuba is part of a trade package that includes powdered milk and apples.
