050105 Burger King Same-Store Sales Rise

Miami, FL - For the eleventh consecutive month, Burger King Corp. has reported positive sales for U.S. stores open at least a year.

The Miami-based fast-food chain, which has more than 50 restaurants in the Orlando area, says its December results show such sales up 13.6 percent systemwide, year-over-year. For franchises, the increase is 13 percent. For company-owned locations, the increase is 19.7 percent.

Greg Brenneman, Burger King chief executive officer, says the company continues to gain momentum on the backs of strong marketing programs and great food, fast.

The company does not give dollar amounts for its same-store sales. But, for the year ended June 30, Burger King reported systemwide sales of $11.1 billion.
