041106 Arkansas Students Get Business Ethics Lesson from Tyson

November 4, 2004

Clarksville, AR - In high school and college, business students learn a lot about making ethical decisions in the business world -- but not many get to meet the ethics director for one of the world's largest companies.

Students at Clarksville High School did just that when they met Ethics Director Dr. Janice Barnsley, of Tyson Foods Inc. Barnsley delivered a lecture about business ethics.

During a school assembly, Barnsley told the students that future business leaders are faced with ethical dilemmas well before they get a job. She told the students to begin making ethical decisions now to prepare themselves for the future.

Many students told 40/29 that they know exactly what Barnsley meant.

"Especially in high school, you're faced with drugs and alcohol and cheating and all that," one student said. "You've just got to make the right choice. You can take the easy, short road or the long, hard one."

A University of the Ozarks student organization called Students In Free Enterprise hosted the assembly and sponsored Barnsley's appearance.
