031157 KFC “Healthier” Ads Out

November 22, 2003

Kentucky Fried Chicken was singed by the government on its controversial new ads portraying fried chicken in a healthier light.

The Federal Trade Commission launched an investigation after consumer advocates said the ads claiming the chicken is healthier than other fast foods were deceptive.

The ads touted the benefits of eating one or two pieces of chicken, but promoted the 12-piece bucket.

KFC said it was pulling the ads at week's end as part of a normal rotation, but the FTC says it's case isn't closed.
