031005 RTM sells Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken

October 8, 2003

Atlanta, GA - Lee's Famous Recipes Inc. has bought Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken from Atlanta-based RTM Restaurant Group.

Terms were not disclosed. RTM owned and operated Lee's since 1995.

"We plan to focus on Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken as a centerpiece brand," said Jeff Miller, Lee's Famous Recipes Inc. president. "As we embrace the heritage of quality that has generated Lee's past success, we are excited about working with our franchisees to build on that foundation for the future."

RTM President Tom Garrett said the sale enables privately-held RTM, with sales of $800 million and more than 25,000 employees, to focus on its core Arby's business.

Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken is named for Lee Cummings, the first president of KFC and creator of the "Famous Recipe" for chicken in 1962. Today there are more than 150 restaurants operating nationwide.
