May 14, 2003

Toronto - KFC and Mother's day is a growing tradition and a winning combination. That according to the release of sales figures for this past Mother's Day by KFC, Canada's largest quick service chicken franchise.

For many years there has been a strong tradition of giving mom a break from cooking by treating her to KFC crispy chicken, fries and salads. This year 1.7 million pieces of chicken were sold, for an increase of 7% over the previous year, bringing total sales of the popular brand to over $3 million dollars in one day, a KFC Canadian record.

KFC credits the addition of another favorite tradition to Mom's meal - a Laura Secord gift box of six pieces of delicious chocolates says Andrew Armstrong, VP of Marketing for priszm brandz, the largest owner of KFC's in Canada.

"KFC's popular Mother's Day promotion of Mom's meal with a gift box of Laura Secord Chocolates sold over a half million pieces of chicken and totaled over a $1 million dollars in sales." according to Armstrong.

The popular meal featured 15 pieces of Original Recipe Chicken, mega fries, large gravy, 3 medium salads and a 6-piece gift box of Laura Secord chocolates for $27.99. It was also available with 10 pieces of chicken, large fries, medium gravy, 2 medium salads and a 6-piece gift box of Laura Secord chocolates for just $19.99.

KFC Canada is the nation's number one chicken franchise and is priszm brandz's largest brand with 492 KFC restaurants.
