020613 Healthy Choice Improves 29 Frozen Meals

June 7, 2002

Omaha, NE - Aromatic sauces, savory side dishes, and zesty spices - when it comes to great-tasting good-for-you food, Healthy Choice just can't leave well-enough alone. Responding to the ever-changing tastes of consumers, Healthy Choice is improving upon 29 selections from its frozen product line.

The 29 improvements include enriching the taste and texture of the sauces in Healthy Choice chicken entrees, adding more beef and tomato flavor to Italian-inspired meals, infusing pizza sauces with more garlic, basil and oregano and creating a crispier crust. There's more tender meats in the traditional meals - and Healthy choice provides the beneficial nutrients that consumers have come to expect.

All Healthy Choice meals and entrees must adhere to the government's strict guidelines that define healthy foods. That means Healthy Choice Frozen meals are sodium- and cholesterol-controlled, low in fat, and contain at least 10% of the Daily Value of two or more of the following nutrients: calcium, iron, fiber, protein, and vitamins A or C. The meals are also portion-controlled.

"Great tasting food that helps you eat healthier is what Healthy Choice is all about. We are always looking to improve upon our meals and seek out ways to make them tastier while still making them healthy," said Joe Ennen, vice president and general manager, Healthy Choice.
