020231 ConAgra Recalls Beef Ravioli

February 13, 2002

Washington - ConAgra Products is recalling 386,000 pounds of canned ravioli because the labels do not declare that the product contains soy protein, a common allergen.

The company, based in Milton, Pa., became aware of the mislabeling after customers called to complain, the Agriculture Department said. It was unclear whether anyone became ill after eating the ravioli.

The product being recalled is 15-ounce cans of "Chef BOYARDEE 99% fat Free CHEESE Ravioli in Tomato Sauce." The cans contain 15 ounces of beef ravioli. The bottom of each can bears the establishment code "794" and the code "J17101 RF."

The ravioli cans were sold nationwide and exported to Haiti, Guatemala and Bermuda.
