010849 Beef Recall Affects Wisconsin SAM'S CLUB

Bentonville, AR - SAM'S CLUB announced that it is cooperating with the USDA and IBP, Inc., in the voluntary recall of ground beef produced at IBP's Dakota City, Nebraska plant.

The voluntary ground beef recall was issued by IBP, Inc. on August 29, 2001, after a ground beef sample taken by USDA tested positive for E. coli O157:H7.

SAM'S CLUB is asking members who purchased ground beef chuck, maximum 20% fat or ground beef, maximum 20% fat between the dates of August 18, 2001 and August 19, 2001, at the West Allis, Wisconsin, club to please return the product to any SAM'S CLUB for a full refund or replacement.

Food safety is a top priority at SAM'S CLUB, and this recall serves as a reminder to our members on the importance of proper food handling and preparation. According to USDA, ground beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. There have been no reported illnesses associated with this product.
