010715 Farmland Plant Damaged by Fire

Kansas City, MO - A fire occurred at the Farmland Foods pork processing plant in Albert Lea, Minn. There were no injuries.

Firefighters continue fighting the blaze this morning, with 18 area fire departments represented.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

At this time, Farmland's priority is to work with fire officials to put out the fire and assess damage to the facility.

Other Farmland facilities will pick up production lost at Albert Lea, to ensure the company continues to provide quality product to its customers.

Located in southern Minnesota, just north of the Iowa border, the Albert Lea plant processes ham and bacon products and employs 500.
