010335 USDA Subsidizes Poultry Sale to Mideast

Washington - The U.S. Agriculture Department said it had subsidized a sale of 500 tonnes of frozen poultry to Middle East countries.

USDA paid a subsidy of $600 per tonne to Tyson Foods Inc. The total subsidy value was $300,000.

Delivery was set for Mar 9-Jun 1.

The Middle East nations can purchase an additional 13,326 tonnes of U.S.- subsidized poultry under the 2000/01 Export Enhancement Program, USDA said.
