010156 McDonald's Launches New Taste Menu

January 27, 2001

Minneapolis, MN - McDonald's New Tastes Menu offers even more to their customers with a craving for unique tastes and variety. Under the New Tastes banner, McDonald's restaurants in Minnesota began serving McRib Jr. (a boneless pork sandwich with special barbecue sauce), fresh baked Cherry Pie and a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Bagel.

The New Tastes Menu is part of McDonald's commitment to their customers to give them more variety, unique tastes and value. Local McDonald's markets can choose up to four new products from a list of 38 menu items covering the breadth of the business, from breakfast items to lunch and dinner entrees to snacks and desserts. Additional products will be added to the list in the future.

“We have the opportunity to give our customers the variety and taste experiences they desire,” said Cheryl Fazendin, McDonald's Regional Marketing Manager. “The New Tastes Menu gives us the flexibility to put favorite sandwiches or desserts on the menu. Customers can enjoy McDonald's rotating new tastes as well as their traditional favorites like Big Mac and Quarter Pounder with Cheese. Here in Minnesota we are excited about adding McRib Jr., fresh baked Cherry Pie and the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Bagel to our New Tastes Menu beginning January 26th.”

The products on the New Tastes Menu will rotate and not remain on the menu longer than six months. Several products will rotate at a time, continually providing new options to customers. McDonald's is able to rollout all the new menu items because of the innovation in cooking production system, known as Made for You. This system enables McDonald's to make their products fresh and prepared as they are ordered.
