000748 Checkers’ New Screamin' Spicy Chicken Strips

July 17, 2000

Clearwater, FL - Checkers and Rally's Drive-in Restaurants announced the national launch of new screamin' spicy chicken strips. Available as a meal or a snack pack, this new product was created to be both super spicy and super portable -- for the Checkers and Rally's consumer looking for High Performance Human Fuel.

“Double Shot of Spice”

The highest quality, all-white breast meat strips are first marinated in spices and then coated with spicy breading to create the hottest taste around -- a “double shot of spice.” “Our chicken strips are second to none,” said Dan Dorsch, president and CEO of Checkers and Rally's Drive-In Restaurants. “We tested screamin' spicy chicken in Miami -- home to some of America's spiciest foods -- and people loved it. So we think it's time the rest of the country got to taste them.”

Super Quick - Super Cool Box

Because today's consumers spend more time dining on the run, screamin' spicy chicken comes in a convenient, easy-open box. And of course, Checkers and Rally's serve the boxes via their famous double drive-thru concept at blistering speed. Each screamin' chicken box sports flames and “high performance fuel” imagery from Checkers and Rally's highly acclaimed advertising campaign. The product is a perfect fit with longtime “hot rod - fast food fast” theme.

Screamin' chicken strips can be ordered as a snack pack with two strips and fries, or as a meal that includes three strips, fries and cole slaw. Both the meal and the snack pack are served with two sauces -- Buffalo Hot Sauce and Ranch -- and all items are enclosed in one box for easy eating on the go.

Dorsch added, “To be number one in this industry, you have to take risks and try new products. With the launch of screamin' spicy chicken strips, we're providing different and unique menu items that are consistent with our company philosophy of offering fresh, high quality food to customers in a timely manner at a valued price.”
