000237 U.S. Foodservice Acquires Stock Yards Packing

Columbia, MD - U.S. Foodservice announced that it had acquired Stock Yards Packing Co., Inc. located in Chicago, Illinois.

Stock Yards, a custom meat cutter, serves predominantly the greater Chicago, Las Vegas and Atlantic City markets, although the Company has both restaurant and retail customers across the United States. The Company generated net sales of approximately $108 million for the fiscal year ended December 25, 1999, and is a Certified Angus Beef (TM) program distributor. Stock Yards is the eighth company with custom meat cutting operations that U.S. Foodservice has acquired in the past five years.
