000133 Japan Group Clones Bull From Cloned Cattle

Tokyo - Japanese scientists said Monday they cloned a bull using a cell taken from a cloned cattle, the first case of a clone being produced from a clone of a large-sized mammal.

The Kagoshima Prefectural Cattle Breeding Development Institute said the bull was born from a surrogate mother cow on Sunday.

The work will help studies of aging and the life span of clones by comparing the cells and chromosomes of clones from different generations, the official said.
