991026 1999 US Beef Exports Cut To 2.361 Billion Lbs

October 9, 1999

Washington - U.S. beef exports for 1999 were reduced to 2361 billion lbs from a previous estimate of 2.391 billion lbs due mostly to a slowdown in sales to Russia, the U.S. Agriculture Department said.

In its monthly world supply and demand report, USDA said it reduced its estimate for beef exports “due to lower than expected beef sales to Russia in the fourth quarter.” The report gave no details.

USDA also cut its estimate of U.S. beef exports in 2000 to 2.265 billion lbs from its previous forecast of 2.290 billion lbs.
