990629 Report On Meatpacking Production Line Design Available

Vermilion, OH – “Designing Production Lines in Meatpacking Plants,” a report written and presented by Dr. John E. Johnson at the 2nd Annual Applied Ergonomics Conference held in Houston, Texas on March 9, 1999, is being made available to meat processing managers, safety managers, and other interested parties.

The report focuses on a variety of production line challenges, with particular emphasis on line efficiencies, manning and ergonomics. The importance of reducing bottlenecks while designing lines for the changing population of line workers is also examined.

Dr. Johnson, author of the report, is an acknowledged expert on meatpacking plant-designed ergonomics. Johnson has a background in both academia and industry.

He is currently Director of Marketing & Safety for Bettcher Industries, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of innovative tools for meat processing operations and industrial applications.
