June 3, 1999

Miami, FL - Burger King Corporation announced that H & H Foods, Inc. will supply South Texas-area Burger King(r) restaurants with beef patties for the fast food company's sandwiches. H & H Foods, based in Mercedes, Texas, is owned and operated by the Hinojosa Brothers and Sons -- a company headed by Liborio (Libo) Hinojosa -- and employs approximately 400 people.

“We are delighted to have H & H Foods supplying the Burger King system,” said Mark Avery, vice president of supply management, Burger King Corporation. “Burger King Corporation has made a serious commitment to including minority- owned firms in our supplier community and H & H is a great addition to our list of suppliers.”

The addition of H & H Foods brings the total number of beef suppliers for Burger King Corporation to 10. Currently, there are 24 minority suppliers servicing the system for a variety of items. Burger King Corporation has implemented a plan to identify and develop minority suppliers, is a member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), and is intent on achieving world class procurement status. Both Burger King Corporation and Restaurant Services Inc. (RSI), the purchasing agent for the Burger King(r) System in the U.S., have committed their resources to increase procurement from approved minority suppliers to a minimum of 5% of all purchases by the year 2000.

“Burger King Corporation prides itself in its reputation for providing fresh, high-quality products to its consumers,” said Libo Hinojosa, CEO, H & H Foods. “We believe H & H Foods' cutting-edge technology in the production and distribution of quality meats, will meet their high standards.”

RSI applauded the chance to bring in H & H Foods. “This is a great opportunity to create a relationship between two companies whose standards and objectives are similar,” said George Hoffman, President, RSI. “Burger King Corporation seeks to make partnering with quality minority suppliers a part of their mainstream.”
