Montvale, NJ - The Waldbaum's supermarket chain on Long Island may close about ten stores over the next two years... while it builds about ten larger, more modern outlets. A-and-P Supermarkets... Waldbaum's parent company... admits it hasn't expanded its Long Island stores as much as competitors... or done as much to cut prices. The company may also switch its handful of A-and-P stores on Long Island to the Waldbaum's name. Over the last decade, Waldbaum's has fallen from first to third place among Long Island supermarket chains, following Edwards and Pathmark.
