981022 Cheeseburger Recall Successful Says Georgia Ag Dept.

October 22, 1998

ATLANTA, GA Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin announced that the voluntary recall of single-serve cheeseburger sandwiches from Jimmy Dean Foods has successfully been completed. The company voluntarily initiated the recall after Zartic, a meat processor, gave notification that hamburger patties it supplied may potentially contain salmonella.

“Our inspectors visited 14 retail outlets and accounted for the seven cases that had reached the retail level. The quick response and the cooperation of Jimmy Dean Foods was excellent,” said Commissioner Irvin. “This effort went smoothly and quickly in finding the cases in question and removing them from the shelf,” said Irvin.
