SMITHFIELD, VA - Smithfield Foods, Inc. announced that it has completed the acquisition of all of the assets and business of North Side Foods Corp. North Side Foods, a major domestic supplier of precooked sausage to McDonald's Corporation, will be operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Smithfield Foods. “The acquisition of North Side Foods is another step in the Company's strategic plan to increase its processed meats business,” Joseph W. Luter, III, chairman and chief executive officer, stated.
