980130 McDonald's Bold "29/39" Value Offers Customers Incredible Savings

January 16, 1998

Los Angeles - Southern California McDonald's restaurants are introducing a new value strategy by offering hamburgers for 29 cents every Wednesday and cheeseburgers for 39 cents every Sunday, representing a savings of more than 55% on America's favorite hamburgers!

The offer begins Sunday, January 18, and will run indefinitely.

"Southern California is a competitive environment where consumers expect the best for a reasonable price, and McDonald's set the standard for delivering quality at a low price in 1955 when founder Ray Kroc began selling hamburgers for 15 cents," said Mike Mangione, president, McDonald's Operators' Association of Southern California. "The 29/39 price strategy is simply upholding McDonald's heritage of affordability that Southern Californians have come to expect."

The 29/39 value will be available at all participating McDonald's restaurants in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties, from 10:30 a.m. until close on each specified day. No additional purchase is required.

"McDonald's has long been a Southern California favorite," said Mangione. "Now with 29/39 pricing, we hope to serve more people on even more occasions."

McDonald's Operators' Association is comprised of over 500 franchised and company-owned stores in the Southern California area.
