971214 Red Oak Hereford Farms Wins "Best Restaurant Beef In America"

December 3, 1997

Red Oak, Iowa - The prestigious American Tasting Institute named Red Oak Farms' Certified Hereford Beef 'The Best Restaurant Beef in America.' This is the second year in a row Red Oak has won this competition. Red Oak also won the American Tasting Institute's 'Best Supermarket Beef in America.'

30 Master Chefs in 16 cities served as judges for the American Tasting Institute's taste tests. Products are judged for taste, appearance and freshness with safety and nutrition in mind.

As a fitting climax to each year's judging, the Institute sponsors the American Gold Medal Food and Beverage Awards in New York City's Carnegie Hall. Winning products are awarded the American Taste Award, presented by members of the National Board.

Gordon Reisinger, President of Red Oak Hereford Farms, said, "Winning the American Tasting Institute's 'Best Restaurant Beef in America' award last year greatly increased Red Oak's profile among restaurant and supermarket buyers across America. Red Oak leveraged this award to expand our supermarket base from 9 initial stores in April to 75 stores today. I hope that winning this prestigious award again will further aid our supermarket roll out."

Red Oak Hereford Farms is a marketer of premium brand labeled beef. Through its exclusive license agreement with the American Hereford Association, Red Oak markets 'Certified Hereford Beef' to upscale restaurants and supermarkets.
