Broadway, Va - WLR Foods, Inc.announced that the North Carolina General Court of Justice, Superior Court Division, granted summary judgment in favor of WLR Foods, Inc. in its litigation with Case Foods, Inc. The suit was filed by Case Foods, Inc. after WLR Foods announced its intention to acquire New Hope Feeds, Inc. and Economy Truck Leasing, Inc. on August 22, 1995. The transaction was closed on September 29, 1995. In announcing the decision, President and Chief Executive Officer James L. Keeler stated, "We were confident that we had complied with all existing laws and are pleased to have this legal matter closed."
WLR Foods is a fully integrated provider of high quality turkey and chicken products primarily under the Wampler Foods(R) label and retail ice under the Cassco(R) label.
