The head of the McDonald's restaurant chain in Peru says the fast food franchise will invest $59 million to build 45 outlets in Lima in the next five years.
There are currently four McDonalds restaurants in Lima, to which five more will be added by the end of this year.
The director for McDonalds in Peru, Roberto Ludak, said the idea "is to open nine more restaurants each year, each of which will require an investment of $1.3 million."
He said McDonalds' sales projections for 1997 had been revised upward, and were 22% above initial estimates. The chain opened in Peru in 1996.
