Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Tyson said the acquisition is expected to close within 30 days, subject to regulatory approval.
Tyson, the world's largest producer of chicken and poultry-based food products, said Mallard's has annual sales of about $40 million.
Mallard's makes Cooking Made Easy products, which are refrigerated, fully-cooked entrees designed for home preparation in less than 10 minutes.
It also products refrigerated goiurmet pasta and sauce products.
