Campbell Soup Co. said it had begun talks with the poultry division of Continental Grain Co. to sell the company its poultry operations in Douglas, Ga.
Campbell said it was also discussing a long-term supply agreement under which the company would provide it with poultry products. Last September, Campbell said it would divest its poultry operations as part of a new strategic growth plan.
Campbell said it planned to cease by May 2 its operations at the Douglas plant, which employs 380 people. Campbell said it was also trying to sell is poultry operations in Worthington, Minnesota and Tecumseh, Nebraska.
