090140: Obama's Inauguration Speech: First Reaction
January 20, 2009
(Conservative Society for Action) - Obama is now President of the United
States. That is big news around the world. He did not say very much in his
remarks, but there were a few items that portend a change in U.S. policy around
the world.
Here's the quick run-down:
1) Obama started off his speech sounding like Ronald Reagan. He talked at
length about how America was built by "hard-working" "risk-takers" from around
the world. He acknowledged that this country became great through the hard work
and sacrifice of its predecessors.
2) Obama made it very clear that he believes that the industrial might of
the nation has NOT been "diminished", but that "new ways" of doing business were
needed.
3) Obama also sounded like Reagan when he proclaimed: "Programs that do not
work will end".
4) He declared that there is no question about the health of the "free
market" in America but that there must be "more oversight" so the system stops
"favoring only those that are prosperous". This is an obvious hint that Obama
believes capitalism only favors the "prosperous". Additional income
redistribution is surely on the way.
5) Obama announced that the U.S. will NOT compromise its "ideals" versus its
"safety". Clearly this means Homeland Security's use of Internet and cell phone
"intelligence" will be canned, not to mention the closing of Guantánamo Bay and
subsequent public trials for terrorists.
6) The Foreign Policy of the United States has changed to "Humility and
Restraint".
7) Our new Foreign Policy toward the Muslin world is now "Mutual Respect".
Let's see if Radical Islam agrees to the "mutual" part.
8) The United State will now be a follower instead of a leader. Obama says
"the World has changed and we must change with it."
9) The United States must now embark on a "New Era of Responsibility to the
World". The self-interests of the US will now take a back seat to the needs of
the "World".
10) Obama then placed "religion" back in the White House by ending his
speech by asking for "God's Grace Upon Us."
11) After asking for God's Grace, Obama started to leave the podium, but
caught himself and came back to add, "God Bless the United States".
In all, Obama made a ho-hum speech that was devoid of much substance. But
that was intentional. Obama likely doesn't know what will happen in his
administration short of emasculating the U.S. War on Terror.
Of course, there was also a lot of talk about the "World" and "Planet" and
"Green" and "Black" and "Hope". No doubt this was a great day for Blacks in
America, but what happened to benediction Rev. Joseph Lowery? He actually asked
us all to "work for that day when blacks will not be asked to get in back".
Lowery may be old, but he surely knows Obama is a black man!
Lowery's also asked "white people" to "embrace what is right". We'll discuss
what he meant by that some other time.
Here we go! The age of Obama!
BTW... the Stock market plunged $330 on Obama's first day in office.
Here's the speech. We'd love to know what YOU heard.
