090133: Ten Year Average Shows Earth COOLING, Not Warming
January 19, 2009
By Geoff Pohanka (www.isthereglobalcooling.com) -- You are well aware there
is a huge effort around the globe to counter the alleged impact of mankind on
the world's climate. If in fact mankind will cause the seas to rise appreciably
by causing CO2 induced global warming then certainly let's do something about
it.
But, what if global warming is not what they say it is? What if the world's
temperature is headed in the opposite direction, that in fact global
temperatures peaked in 1998 and there has been global cooling ever since. The
global warming and subsequent global cooling were perfectly predictable due to
hundreds of years of historical trends and observation of the impact of
variations in solar activity on global temperature.
Did you know the Medieval Period was as much as 2 degrees centigrade warmer
than today's temperature and that the world then cooled as much as 4 degrees
centigrade between 1450 and 1850, this period being called the Little Ice Age (a
period of glacial advance, the same glaciers that are in retreat today)? These
temperature variations were not caused by mankind. They were caused entirely by
natural forces.
According to the National Climate Data Center the 2008 average temperature
of the continental United States through December 2008 is below normal link
(based on the 20th Century average), that temperatures that were once rising are
now falling just as quickly. Spring '08 was the 33rd coolest spring and October
'08 was the 44th coolest October in 114 years of record keeping. For the
continental USA December '08 was -.9F below the 20th Century average temperature
and was the 35th coolest December in 114 years link. 1998 was the second warmest
year since 1900 but every year after 1998 has been cooler. So what has changed?
CO2 concentrations continue to increase yet temperatures are now falling. The
change is reduced solar activity which is at the lowest level in almost a
Century.
The Antarctic, which contains 90% of the worlds ice, now has the most ice
ever recorded! When combining the ice at both Poles there is no net loss of
polar ice! The October 2008 Arctic sea ice growth is at the most rapid pace ever
recorded. So where is the global warming we are preparing for? Is a carbon cap
and trade system that would raise hundreds of billions of dollars each year for
the government necessary to prevent global warming if in fact the global warming
was caused by the Sun and that there will be global cooling in the coming
decades? It appears to me that the fear of global warming is looking more and
more like the Y2K scare of the late 1990s.
