081203 Coleman Withdraws Some Challenges To Minn. Ballots
December 18, 2008
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The state canvassing board going over disputed U.S. Senate
ballots is getting a break from new withdrawals by Sen. Norm Coleman.
Coleman's campaign withdrew about 400 challenges Thursday morning. That
leaves about 800 Coleman challenges for the board, which finished Democrat Al
Franken's challenges Wednesday.
The canvassing board is aiming to finish its work by Friday night. Coleman,
a Republican, led by 360 votes after the first two days of the recount.
But Franken is likely to close that gap as the board turns its attention to
Coleman's challenges. The board is rejecting more challenges than it is
upholding.
